High Pressure Sodium/ HPS Bulbs
We recommend replacing High Pressure Sodium/ HPS bulbs (including Son Agro grow bulbs) after 18 months of use. After 18 months of growing time your HPS bulbs are only putting out half as much light as new bulbs will. Your eye will not notice it, but you will see a difference in how your plants grow after replacing your old bulb. As with metal halide bulbs, light output decreases over time, but you still use the same amount of electricity.

Son Agro HPS bulbs will fit in standard hps ballasts, ie: a 430 Son Agro hps bulb may be put into a 400 watt HPS ballast. We carry Hortilux 1000 watt HPS bulbs which are designed specifically for horticultural use. These bulbs have a boosted blue spectrum which helps reduce plant stretching, unlike standard 1000 watt HPS bulbs.
