Do I need oscillating fans in my growing area?

Hello
I was curious as to the need of fans in indoor gardens. Do I need to circulate air through the plants frequently, or will the normal air flow in the house be sufficient? What advantages do fans offer?

Oscillating fans are important in any indoor gardening area. Indoors we have to provide the plants with everything mother nature does, including wind and fresh air. Fans blowing directly on or above the plants will have numerous benificial results.

By circulating and exchanging the air you will have more natural co2 coming into contact with your plant, helping them grow more vigorously. By having a constant stream of air on your plants you will be bending the branches/stalks back and forth. This forces your plants to increase the strength and size of their stalks, helping them to support heavy fruit. You don't want your tomatoe plants to start breaking off branches from the weight of your tomatoes.

Spider mites and other insect pests don't like the constant wind and will cut reproduction rates. You're less likely to have hot spots of air in your growing area, and have a more consistent overall temperature for the plants.

You want a mild breeze on your plants, not a hurricane!
